My paternal grandmother, May, who we called Mimi, always wore this shade of lipstick. Her raincoat was the same color. Perfect for a cheerful winter dress.
When I first saw Tiramisu, I was excited for Stephanie of 3hourspast and now Cake Patterns as well as my friend Mikhaela and her husband, Masheka, who did the pattern illustration and envelope/instructions design. They are lovely, talented, hardworking people and I want them to be successful! For myself, I was less excited because the dress, though indisputably adorable, contains two design elements I usually avoid: a surplice neckline and a wide midriff band. I think this neckline looks great if you have a bust. I don't. As for the midriff band, it's just not comfortable since I had surgery in that area a year and a half ago. So I had specific reservations about Tiramisu but thought I'd give it a shot anyways.

| Hmm. I do have on a slip. |
I think I got a good fit. I love the unconventional but completely logical sizing and other custom fit measures Steph has built into the design. Even so, I still don't think Tiramisu is the best shape for my bottom heavy physique and the midriff band is. . . a midriff band, as I knew full well going in.
My fresh love affair with wool jersey continues. I'm ready to hit the garment district for more to make a Pavlova wrap top, Steph's next pattern, about which I have no reservations. It looks comfortable, versatile, and chic, very appealing. Yes, the neckline is similar, but somehow the extension into a wrap makes all the difference.
Next up: my ginaclarkstyle dress + surprise!

That colour is absolutely gorgeous. I've felt a little guilty not trying out the Tiramisu to support Steph but I have similar reservations about the midriff band on my bulky midriff and the cut right under the bust. I actually think it looks nicer on you than you probably realise. It's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWool jersey in that shade is so very glorious! I love the color on you - will you make a matching Pavlova for youself out of the jersey??
ReplyDeleteI love that color it more than makes up for the design elements that you don't especially care for. Great to see you happily back from Germany and sewing again.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Meg, I have the tiniest handful of pink scraps leftover, unfortunately. I'm thinking a big scarf rather than a cardigan-- too hot-- will address my issues.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you! Mmm wool jersey must be wonderful to wear - I totally agree with on wool on long sleeves, let's be practical!
ReplyDeleteLee this looks great! It's such a pretty color on you, not everyone could pull off that much pink but I love it. You've done a lovely job, and I'm pleased you like the pattern.. I can't wait til "winter" here so I can have long sleeves and wool, too. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful!! I love that color on you!! I share your reservations about this bustline on those of us with small ladies, lol. But you rock this so hard!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! I think you got a great fit on this! I love the color story. It is so bright and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteIts great to see a long sleeved version, I'm looking forward to some cooler weather here before I make that variation. Love the bold pink on you :-)
